Vancouver

I have been wearing a groove between certain exotic places for some time and it's been a while since I visited a new city. This one has that eerie instant familiarity of all cities founded or influenced by our energetic ancestors, but the fun is always in finding what differentiates a place. I am looking forward to getting to know Vancouver slightly in the next couple of days.
That French looking roof is similar to the Chateau laurier Hotel in Ottowa. It must be some style of french Canadian Victorian venacvular.

It is a pretty place, and yet a real city too. Best viewed with a native guide, of course.

I had a very good friend in the 80s who was from Vancouver, originally from Hong Kong. He always told me that Vancouver was the most beautiful city in North America and that I should go and see it one day. The closest I got was Banff!

Those are just views from the window. My confused system closed down for sleep on the first evening so I am feeling very refreshed this morning. My bag was brought to my room by a Chinese Canadian, but I didn't test his Mandarin (and have no Cantonese). See you later!

Well you were out and about quickly or are these just views from your window?
What will surprise is how many Chinese people are here. :) Well people from Hong Kong mainly but they love to shop and they love to eat out so they've made some big changes to the city and all to the good.
