Farewell, Dr John Crippen

nhsblogdoc: NHS BLOG DOCTOR has retired.
This is very sad news indeed. The good doctor has been an adornment to the British blogosphere and - while I very often did not agree with him - I shall miss him. Have a good retirement sir.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

You must have missed an earlier posting - "Dr Crippen" had blogged on 7 March that he had already retired a short while ago. You can still read that post here:

So he deleted all his posts and his archive and changed his blog design as well. And retired from the NHS without having mentioned this was coming at any point? Personally I strongly suspect someone has hacked his site. Or else I would have to say I am not impressed by the way he "retired". It would be like a writer burning all his books in libraries because he decided to retire.

I started as a medblog reader long before I started blogging and Dr Crippen was one I followed regularly over the years.
It would not have been surprising if he had thrown up his hands long ago, but he stayed on to the end of his active career. Whether he made a difference is questionable but he fought the good fight.
